ABOUT US Jamie Parker Hello! I am Jamie Parker, and I have been a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism since 1991. In the SCA I am known as Dame Karis Pursey. I was elevated to the Order of the Pelican in 2006. My passions are historical costuming and event planning, which went hand in hand in the creation of CostumeTalk. After paying someone to make my first SCA outfit I decided there had to be a better way and began my long journey into costuming and ultimately my passion for historical costuming. I have had a love for late period costuming since I was a teenager and truly appreciate the elaborate and amazing details found in almost any style of clothing from the 1500's, and focus on Elizabethan, Italian, and German clothing from that period. CostumeTalk came as an idea to me after attending an SCA lecture series where I first met Robin Netherton, and after hearing about Kalamazoo, but being unable to attend. I wanted to create a place outside of the SCA where we could bring together people like ourselves interested in all aspects of historical clothing in an academic setting. After talking to my friend and now co-founder Jonna, about my "great idea" we decided to go for it, and began in 2007 with our first lecture series. Jonna Hayden Hello! My name is Jonna Hayden, and I have been a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism for nearly 30 years. In the SCA I am known as Dame Fearga Kavanagh. I was elevated to the Order of the Laurel for Costuming in 1998 and have persued further insanity by allowing myself to be elevated to the Order of the Pelican in 2000. I have been sewing since I was four years old, my mother was and is a tailor, and felt that an education in the fine art of clothing construction was more important than learning to cook. I can't really get through the day without some interaction with fabric, be it research, shopping, or just going through my stash. In 2007, my friend Jamie and I decided to create CostumeTalk and offer others with the same passions that we have a place where they could participate in lecture series and workshops on a wide variety of historical costuming topics.
