To avoid unfair advantage, Official event staff/ autocrat team and Officers of Adiantum are exempt from scoring in Hours worked and Trash Collection contests (though we of course applaud their efforts).

Period Encampment:  We want to acknowledge the inspiration given by those who work hard to create period ambience, providing “a magic doorway into the past.”  Judges will consider all elements of the encampment—tents, lighting, cooking gear, banners, furnishings, storage, absence or concealment of mundane items, etc.  A complete merchant booth (including wares and displays) may also be entered.  Entrant must be present during judging to escort and answer questions.

An individual may enter an encampment as a whole, even if that includes items made by others.  More than one person in a group encampment may enter the contest;  if so, equal points will be awarded.  If a camp wins a prize, we ask that the prize be shared by all entrants from that encampment.

Event Service Hours Worked:  There are separate contests for hours worked before and during the event, since some people can travel to help prepare the site, some cannot.  To help offset “home field advantage” on pre-event hours, night shifts worked during the event are worth extra points.

Event Service Hours Worked (Pre-event):  through Sunday May 18.  Hours worked on site clearing and improvements will be tallied by the Site Workparty Coordinator.  If you have pre-event service hours, let us know when you register for the Three Pillars Competition on Saturday and we will note those hours on your Passport.  For a schedule of site work parties, see http://www.myspace.com/egilsca

Event Service Hours Worked (During Event): from Friday May 23 through noon Sunday May 25. Service to the event can include gate duty, parking duty, water bearing, marshalling, staffing gold key, teaching a scheduled class, heralding, chirurgeon duty, biffy stocking, fire watch, set up, delivering workers’ treats, etc.  Partial hours can be rounded up to the nearest hour.  Night shifts are worth extra points.  In order to be counted, hours must be recorded in entrant’s Passport by a reliable witness such as autocrat staff, shift heads, officers, the Baron and Baroness of Adiantum, or other landed royalty on site (we will rely on the honor system).  ENTRANT IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for ensuring that their service points are recorded and for turning in their Passport to the competition coordinators by noon on Sunday of Egil’s.

Trash Collection:  tallied in full bags.  Garbage bags will be provided, and rolling bins can be checked out to aid schlepping.  Be creative in your scrounging; in addition to cleaning public areas, ask merchants and campers if they have any trash to donate to your cause.  Participant should show bags at front gate for counting and deliver bags to the on-site dumpster or appropriate off-site disposal.  ENTRANT IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for ensuring that their trash collection points are recorded and for turning in their Passport to the competition coordinators by noon on Sunday of Egil’s.
