Egil’s Target Archery

There will be many opportunities for target archers of all abilities!  Some loaner gear for youth and adults will be available for sharing.

We will offer three novelty shoots.  On Saturday, we will seek fresh meat for our larders by venturing on a Great Hunt for animals both mundane and mythical. This will be a team shoot, and the prizes will be suitable for your camp’s stew pot. (Yumm!)

On Sunday, we will have an individual competition Silly Shoot, featuring some of your favorite characters of yesteryear on a variety of stationary, moving and aerial targets.  We will also have the famous Siegfried von Faust Faux Foe Follies, where you must shoot your “attackers” before they shoot you! 

At designated times on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, we will offer instruction for beginners, as well as Royal Rounds.  This will allow everyone to receive an official An Tir Target Archery rank by the time they leave Egil’s.  (You must submit a score from 3 different days to be ranked in An Tir).

Rules

All participants must follow the Safety Rules and Range Courtesy guidelines posted at the archery range.

The SCA Target Archery Rules and An Tir rules regarding equipment will be followed.

Reminder:  In accordance with SCA Target Archery Handbook, nobody may use their gear until it has been inspected and authorized by the target archery marshal in charge.  All authorized gear will be issued a sticker that must be visible at all times the bow is in use. Please bring your bow, unstrung, to the inspection and be prepared to string it under the gaze of the marshal.  Bows that are too heavy for the archer to string and draw safely will not be authorized.

Reminder:  As required by the Kingdom of An Tir, children under the age of 13 may shoot only when their parent/guardian is at the range.  We advise parents/guardians to bring a chair while their child shoots.
